Collecting authentic narratives that nourish the hearts of Black people while informing the global community.

Although people who identify as Black have varying backgrounds, distinct interests, and a variety of viewpoints, we are often treated as a monolithic collective, virtually indistinguishable from one another. The goal of Monolith is to help change the narrative. We long to see a world that truly understands that there is complexity in the patchwork of black experience.

The Project

The brand identity required a balance of uniqueness and accessibility. Alexis embarked on a meticulous process, starting with a strong sans-serif font and then modifying the line widths and shapes. This thoughtful approach resulted in a logo that is both clean and simple, yet distinctly unique, ensuring its relevance withstands the test of time and trends.

Alexis used a simple color palette, rich black and a shade of chartreuse, that accented, not distracted, the main focus: the narratives. Large swaths of text and strong imagery are features of this brand, and it was imperative that space was made for them.
